Harissa

Harissa is a spicy condiment used in North African/Middle Eastern cooking.  Its exact ingredients vary by recipe (and by the region from which the particular recipe comes), but generally harissa includes chiles, spices, olvie oil, garlic, and salt.

Enjoy your blog and helpful hints. Is there a particular brand you fancy? I noticed harissa has been popping up in recipes. I would like to try it.

Many thanks,
Beng

I've bought Cava brand and like it. I think it is local to the Washington DC area, so depending on where you live, it may not be available. I want to try making my own and so far the 2 recipes that looks the most promising are from Serious Eats http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2010/05/homemade-harissa-recipe.html and a blogger named Katherine Martinelli http://www.katherinemartinelli.com/blog/2012/homemade-harissa-recipe/. Let me know which type you end up using.
